Do You Have A Dream You Have Not Fulfilled?

DO YOU HAVE A DREAM YOU HAVE NOT FULFILLED? by Marilyn L Hart #MarilynLHart #MondayMotivation #Motivational Do you have a dream you have not fulfilled? You come up with one excuse after another, why you have not done it. I’m too old, it’s too late. I believe if you have breath in your body, it is not too late. The only reasons dreams die, is because you let them die. In most cases, it boils down to fear. You were afraid to take the chance.

I had always dreamed of going parasailing, but I did not want to do it alone. Then the perfect opportunity came up. Last year I met my daughter and her family in South Beach, Florida. I asked them if they wanted to try parasailing. My grandsons and son-in-law immediately said yes. I went up with my two oldest grandsons, and my son-in-law went up with my youngest grandson.  We had a wonderful time laughing and seeing the gorgeous view of the South Beach shoreline. It is a precious memory we will always share.

Since I published my books, I have had several people tell me, they too have dreamed of writing a book, but they have not done it. When I ask them why they always come up with …

MFRW Week #12 – Is There Anything About You Only Your Family Understands

The picture describes me and my family. I am the black sheep in the family. Is there anything only my family understands, NO. They all think I am nuts.

My writing career is a perfect example of it. I had quit a very good paying job to start my writing career. All my family members thought I was crazy. It was a hobby, not a career.

I believe if you have a dream, you need to pursue it, not matter what others may tell you, especially your family. They have the best intentions, but it is what they think you should do, not necessarily what you think you should do.

Life is too short. You must try. Will you always succeed, maybe, maybe not? But at least you will know you gave it your best shot.

Who knows, maybe in pursuing your dream, no matter what your family says, might lead you to something bigger and better.

Only you know what is in your heart, follow it!

Don't Worry Be Happy, Marilyn L Hart

Don’t Worry, Be Happy

Motivational Monday

Don't Worry Be Happy, Marilyn L Hart In September 1988, Bob McFerrin did a song called, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” You can view the video on You-Tube that he had done for this song. And if you look closely, you will recognize one of the other actors in the video, Robin Williams. One of the finest comedians there ever was. You can see as you are watching the video, they are having fun. My guess is most of it wasn’t even planned, they just started playing around.

It is a straight forward song, but the words have significant meaning. The things we worry about today, mean nothing tomorrow. So why are we worrying about them now?

Our thoughts are very powerful. And many times, when our mind is focused on worry, it is hard to release it. It is all we think and talks about, day in and day out. Not only are we depressing ourselves, but we are also depressing those around us. You say, “I cannot seem to let it go.” Well, the only person who can let it go is you. No one else can make that happen.

If you have a family member who is in harm’s way, …

A SIMPLE ACT OF KINDNESS by Marilyn L Hart

A simple act of kindness can take as little as a minute, yet impact another person’s life forever. I think nowadays, we make our life so hectic rushing from here to there; we forget to slow down to do the little things.

Holding the Door Open:

How many times have you gone to a store, one that does not have the automatic sliding doors and instead of the person in front of you holding the door open to let you in, they just walk in? The door shuts right in front of you. Or have you seen a mother struggling with a stroller and another youngster, trying to push open the door to let them out and people walk right past her, instead of holding the door open for her? This mainly happens at restaurants, where people are afraid if they keep the door open for you, you will check in before they do and get seated first. You were already going to be waiting for half an hour for a table, so what difference does waiting another five minutes going to make?

Sharing Your Umbrella:

Have you ever gone to the grocery store and you see it …

The Difference Between A Collector and A Hoarder

MFRW Week #10 - THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COLLECTING AND HOARDING

There is a significant difference between collecting and hoarding. A collector is a person who collects things and puts them in an organized manner. My cousin collects clowns. She has a room in her home that is her clown room. There are shelves on the walls and curio cabinets where her clowns are beautifully displayed.

A collector might spend thousands of dollars on items they collect, but they take care of their collection. A hoarder will spend thousands of dollars collecting items and continue to buy and buy, having no recollection of the things they have purchased, but will not part with one of them.

Several years ago, my fiancé’s mother’s health had started to rapidly deteriorate, and he had to make the tough decision to put her in a nursing home. We lived in Florida, and she lived in Pennsylvania. I had never met her, but my fiancé, who was an only child, would travel to Pennsylvania every time she went to the hospital. Her last time in the hospital, he knew he could not prolong the inevitable any longer.

Because he was working full time and I was working from home, we both agreed I would …

#MFRWauthor Week #11 – Do You Share or Hide an Odd, Useless Talent

I do not have an odd talent. I seriously doubt if I had an odd talent I would post it on Facebook or do a YouTube video of it. But then again, if a Hollywood agent came up to me and said, “I will give you $5,000 if you will let me film and promote your odd talent,” then I would probably do it. Who knows, maybe having the odd talent and having it go viral on the internet is what it takes to open up the floodgates of getting my name out there to promote my books, blogs and vlogs? Having people come up to me and say, “Hey, aren’t you so and so, who can do such and such?” is the ideal publicity, no, but it is publicity. Hum, maybe I need to come up with an odd talent! ☺

Even though I do not have a unique talent, my Dad did. He had the ability of raising his ears one at a time and wiggling them back and forth. Many of us can raise both ears at once, but we cannot raise one at a time. Was this an odd talent, yes, but as a …

Point Of View, Marilyn L Hart

Our Own Point of View #MFRWauthor

Point Of View, Marilyn L Hart

Take six people and put them in a room and sit them around a table. In the center of the table have a bowl with different subjects on it. One at a time have each person take out a piece of paper and read it out loud. Then have everyone express their point of view on the subject. I guarantee, there will be six different points of view. Some of them may be similar, but there will be variances. We all have our own point of view and thankfully we live in a country where we are free to express them.

In writing, point of view is different. When plotting out your story, you need to find out whose point of view you are going to be writing the story from. Then you need to decide if you are going to write it in the first, second or third person's perspective.  You need to write consistently through the story from that viewpoint.
